ENFORCEMENT Tigard Police officers will be joining other agencies throughout the state in a high visibility traffic safety enforcement focused on impaired drivers known as "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over." The enforcement will run from August 19 — September 7 to coincide with the end of the summer travel season and the Labor Day holiday. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 505 people were killed in crashes during the 2024 Labor Day holiday across the U.S. Of those people, 170 (34%) were killed in crashes that involved at least one alcohol-impaired driver. We want to remind people that you can be charged with driving under the influence (DUII) as a result of any substance that affects your ability to drive, not just alcohol. Members of the Tigard Police Traffic Safety Unit conduct traffic safety missions throughout the year, focused on a variety of traffic safety issues, including seat belts, car seats, speeding, impaired driving, distracted driving and pedestrian safety. These missions are made possible thanks to federal grants from NHTSA, administered by the Oregon Department of Transportation and Oregon Impact. ### Page 1of1
