Youth Councilor Report and Staff Updates
Staff Liaison Richardson: As there are now standard bylaws for all boards & committees, beginning
January 1, 2027 we will only have a Chair and Vice Chair. Our next election will be on August 17 and we
will elect those positions now and not renew the others (Media Officer, School Outreach Officer,
Treasurer). We will extend recruitment for TYAC into the school year – we can now go up to 15
members. August 31 meeting is cancelled. Possible summer movie night at Family Promise of Tualatin
Valley? August Popsicles with Police is an opportunity to promote TYAC. Don’t have dates yet.
Tigard HOME Project Presentation
Amber Gomez, Associate Planner presented on the Tigard HOME project. HOME = housing, opportunity,
mobility, enterprise.
Bringing housing and entertainment opportunities to communities
Community engagement to decide direction of code changes
16 tabling events, 5 outreach events, 3 community dinners, 3 pop ups, 1000+ community members
engaged with
Mapping exercises, vision board, focus groups, surveys
Businesses such as food, drink, small business,
Next steps will be presenting to council, providing a report and drafting findings and final
recommendations
Amber got feedback from TYAC members and answered questions about project.
