Tigard Youth Advisory Council Meeting Minutes
3/30/26, 5-6PM, Tigard City Hall

Youth Councilor Report and Staff Updates
Staff Liaison Richardson: The Braver Angels event is April 8. State of Our City is on April 13 (next TYAC
meeting canceled). City Council meeting item - TYAC President and Vice President co-present the TYAC
Annual Report on May 12 as well as civic education transition. Pride Parade & Festival – May 23.
National League of Cities Congressional Cities Conference Debrief
Asher and Kailani shared their impressions of trip to Washington, D.C. for the NLC CCC trip March 11-13.
Movie Night Event Debrief
Asher, Chelsy, Kim attended (and Staff Liaison Alex). 30 participants came (movie - Rise of the
Guardians). Zine activity very popular. Asher brought stickers, resident brought her personal zine
collection. Members agreed to do another movie night over summer, or another youth-oriented activity.
Braver Angels Event
School Outreach Officer and Media Officer agreed to spread invitation and invite Hillsboro YAC to event.
Dress rehearsal is on Thursday, April 2 – Kailani and Jett agreed to attend. At Tualatin City Services
Building. Our five participating members in the event agreed to all be table hosts at actual event April 8.
May 19 City Council Item Discussion
Staff liaison Richardson went over the pivot to civic education that will be proposed to Council on May
19. Feedback: emphasize policy work for TYAC members, bridging gap between TYAC and community.
Retain Council connection even without the Youth Councilor position (being eliminated). TYAC is not a
club and that is how it is perceived. Want to create change in their community, become more advisory,
bring issues directly to Council. Topics: elections, how voting works. How does TYAC recruit
better/more? Can they make their Instagram public? This is a real limitation.
