WHEREAS, Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects
(r;movement and may also impact speech, balance, cognition, and daily activities; and
.l WHEREAS,the World Health Organization estimates that the prevalence of Parkinson's '"' ,,^'
disease has doubled globally over the past 25 years, with disability and deaths increasing Itr
faster than for any other neurological disorder; and #'-
WHEREAS, Parkinson's disease affects individuals and families in communities across it
the United States and around the world, creating significant physical, emotional, and , ,ti
caregiving challenges; and _:, tt.

WHEREAS, increasing public awareness of Parkinson's disease helps promote . :- ':V
understanding, encourages early diagnosis and treatment, and supports individuals living
with the disease as well as their caregivers; and .r .y ' j
WHEREAS, ongoing research, education, and community support are essential to 1 wl
improving treatment options and enhancing quality of life for people living with Parkinson's
disease; and
WHEREAS,April is recognized nationally as Parkinson's Awareness Month, and April 11 r. 'y,("-'"
is observed as World Parkinson's Day to raise awareness and encourage continued ' "
