Budget Hearing Minutes
Monday, June 13, 1994
1. Call to Order
Chair Haunsperger brought the Budget Hearing to order at 7:04
p.m.
Commissioners Present: Chair Haunsperger, Commissioners
Froude, Morgan, Mortensen and
Pedersen
Staff Present: Leslee Gemmill, Wayne Lowry, Randy
yolk and Ed Wegner
Guests Present: Gilbert Meigs and Jack Polans
2. Visitors
Chair Haunsperger welcomed the visitors.
3. Approve May 2, 1994 Budget Committee Meeting Minutes
Commissioner Lou Ane Mortensen motioned to accept the meeting
minutes as submitted and Commissioner Froude seconded the
motion. A voice vote was taken and the motion passed
unanimously.
4. Tigard Water District Approved Budget
Wayne Lowry, City of Tigard Finance Director, commented that
the budget summary as approved by the committee was advertised
in the Tigard Times on May 19, 1994. The second notice of the
budget hearing appeared in the Tigard Times on June 2, 1994
fulfilling all advertising requirements as required by local
budget law. He informed the Board that the acceptance of the
Resolution formally adopts the approved budget and following
its adoption, Mr. Lowry will file the budget document and tax
levy forms with the Washington County Tax Assessor.
PUBLIC HEARING
Jack Polans, King City resident, expressed his concern about
the lack of community involvement in water related issues. He
suggested another avenue for public awareness, besides the
public library, of cable television.
Chair Haunsperger acknowledged Mr. Polans suggestion and
thanked him for his input.
Beverly Froude commented that cable television is a valid idea
and proposed that when the time came for such a program, the
effort be joint with the Intergovernmental Water Board.
Jack Polans then asked the Board for its consideration in
informing citizens on how to look for possible water leaks.
Jack Polans said he turns off all water on his property and
lifts the lid to the water meter to check to see whether the
dial is turning or not. He asked that this suggestion be
somehow conveyed to other citizens.
PUBLIC HEARING CLOSED
Chair Haunsperger read Resolution No. 94-02:
A Resolution of the Tigard Water District approving the
budget, making appropriations, declaring the Ad Valorem Tax
Levy and classifying the levy as provided by ORS 310.060(2)
for fiscal year 1994/95.
Commissioner George Morgan motioned to approve Resolution No.
94-02 as read and Commissioner Mortensen seconded the motion.
A voice vote was taken and the motion was approved
unanimously.
5. Adjournment
The Budget Hearing was adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
