Re: End Jack Top Chord over Hip Truss Top Chord Shim note.
In regards to the above mentioned subject the engineering note on the End Jack trusses referring
to "Beveled plate or shim required to provide full bearing surface with truss chord at joint(s) ( )."
Does not require a shim, provided the Roof Live Load (Roof Snow included) is less than or equal
to 40 psf. This is referring to the top chord bearing condition at End Jack trusses bearing on the
Hip Truss flat top chord. An acceptable condition would provide support where indicated and
connection by others or(2)-16d common wire (0.162" dia. x 3.5" long)Toe-Nails at each End
Jack top chord to Hip Truss top chord, not to exceed 4' on center along the extension of the End
Jack top chord. This is considered a Mechanical Connection. Maximum uplift not to exceed 170
lbs. Anchor hardware required for uplift exceeding 170 lbs.
