This Engineering Field Directive is issued to Sage Built Homes, LLC for the single family
residence under construction on Lot 7 in the Canyon Court development in Tigard, Oregon
regarding a header over a 6'wide sliding door.
The plans by Suntel Design call for a 6x12 header over the 6' wide glass sliding door with
transom on the rear wall of the kitchen. The wall has insufficient height with the transom to
install the 6x12 header. The header can be replaced with a 51/2 x 71/2" glue-laminated beam. One
of the double top plates can be cut out if necessary to obtain additional height.
