Typical work includes debris removal, tagging of survey markers, or marking utility lines. Work in the roadway coincides with gaps in the traffic so flow is not impeded. 1. Do not use this diagram if traffic must be controlled to gain safe access to the work space due to conditions such as high travel speeds or traffic volumes. Use the appropriate lane closure or mobile work zone layout. 2. Use truck-mounted flashing warning lights on work vehicles. See Section 4.3— Lights and Lighted Signs for exceptions. 3. For added visibility, truck-mounted arrow boards or PCMS in caution mode may be used. 4. The work vehicles should be parked as far off the travel lanes as practical. 5. If a ten-foot minimum travel lane cannot be maintained or when opposing direction of traffic cannot safely pass, use the appropriate lane closure diagrams such as Diagrams 310 through 350. 6. The initial warning sign should be used if the sight distance is less than 750 feet and traffic volumes are over 400 ADT. 7. A spotter may be used to warn workers of approaching traffic. This is especially appropriate when sight distances are limited or speeds are high. See Section 1.12—Spotter Performance and Training Guidelines for additional information. 0 a Chapter 5 September 2016 2011 Edition Page 77 Short Duration Road Work Diagram 200 11 Work Vehicle (Optional) * 3 or more cones • ROAD may be placed • * AHOF_AD behind vehicle for added visibility Vehicle mounted (Optional) 1 mile maximum D' 1 ROA—( WORK \ AHEAD/ Initial Warning Sign (Optional-See Note 6) s 0 EL (D September 2016 Chapter 5 O >187455 9269 , i - A Disconnect / A 9R Reconnect i ,.8.5 • .F 9.5 25 g.,. 9205 9165 Services at PL 5008 11)7522 pt-1 j,,` PL%880' 1 5 Care Testing Services 9 197 1 A50 24876.2 + ': 0 _ 6 25 51325 II, ;-15-32003- B-25_ Pole 5880 ~ 4 ,_ 'I 0r Sw North D tam at 9205 SW SW Nor -•' ;ota St 4, so . ,_ TIENorth n ,- \ M1 2135 Pt_117 Dakota 0 -0 1P 9322 0 w 11270 { SW North Dakota St 1`• • B 25 87316 I Street and akota St SW North Dakota St •.
