Street Tree Replacement Required

The applicant shall plant a replacement tree for each tree removed in accordance
with the Street Tree Planting Standards in Section 2, part 1 of the Urban Forestry
Manual. Existing trees may be considered as replacement trees if they meet all
applicable species, size, condition and location requirements in Section 2, part 1
and were not already required to be planted or preserved by the Tigard Municipal
Code.
This decision is final and valid for a period of up to one year after issuance unless
otherwise specified. Nothing prevents you from submitting another tree permit
application if the conditions and circumstances surrounding this removal have
changed.

Dear City of Tigard Planning Department,
I am enclosing an application for removal of a second Birch tree at Trinity Community Church.
Specifically,the tree at issue is similar to one that has already been approved for removal. We would
like authorization to remove and replace the second Birch tree. See attached photos.

Photo D—Looking from front of church towards SW 1215L where a new access sidewalk has been
installed per city code as part of our permitted church renovation.
From these photos you can see the tree is in decline. It was recently examined by Mangold Tree
Services as needing to be removed because it is infested with bark beetles. In addition, it is too close to
the new sidewalk leading from the church. We will replace both trees with similar species from the
approved list.
Additional notes: I found out this morning that Mangold Tree Services had been out to remove the first
tree but was given the go ahead by another Trustee to remove the second one since they could see that
it was in major decline. So,this application is intended to confirm approval of the removal.
Communication between the Church Trustees broke down as to whether the second tree could be
removed. We apologize for this breakdown in communication and the submission of this application
after removal of the tree. if you need additional supporting documentation please advise us.
