With the intermediate sprinkler head taken out of the system, the system will not be negatively affected. According to the NFPA 13-D Standard Chapter 8.3 Location of Sprinklers 8.3.8 Sprinklers shall not be required in closets in garages and exterior closets(regardless of size) located on exterior balconies, exterior breezeways/corridors, or accessed from outdoors where the closet does not have doors or unprotected penetrations directly into the dwelling unit. Plans that show the sprinkler head in the mechanical closet accessed from the garage, and without negatively impacting the system with its removal, can be omitted.
