Vista Structural Engineering, LLC,was asked to address the following city inspection comment:
1. Is double 2x6 stacked blocking between truss bearing acceptable in place of 2x12 blocking? Double 2x6
stacked blocking is acceptable, given that the sheathing is nailed to the top 2x6 and to the double top plate per the
shear wall schedule.
2. Interior shear wall was sheathed on one side on the lower level,then on the opposite side on the level
directly above. Is this acceptable? A picture of the walls in question is attached. The side that a shear wall is
sheathed on is not important, as long as the wall is sheathed, and that the shear transfer path is continuous from
the bottom of the wall above to the top of the wall below. We recommend approval of the wall in question.
