Report#: 295 Arrival: 1055 Departure: 1215 Weather: Cloudy, 60's Permit# TBD Site Visit Requested By: > Angela (Polygon) Met With (on site): ; Angela(Polygon) Purpose: Observe Lot 233 and 234 Building Subgrades Outstanding Issues: I observed that Lots 233 and 234 had been approximately cut to finished subgrade elevation and a layer of loose 3/4 inch minus crushed rock was placed over the subgrade. I used a1/2 inch diameter"T" probe to evaluate relative consistency of the subgrade. Soil appeared to consist of brown SILT; minor gravel. Generally, subgrade soil was observed to be stiff to medium stiff based on resistance to penetration of the probe. I observed a small area in lot 233 that had several inches of mud and was not firm underfoot. I recommended that this area be scrapped down to firm subgrade if underneath a footing. I also observed soft soil on the second tier down from Snowdale street level in lot 234 where I could press the probe into the soil between 18 to 24 inches deep. After speaking with GeoDesign, Inc. project management, we recommend that this tier be dug down to firm soil or until a maximum of 6 inches is reached and replaced with granular fill compacted to not less than 95 percent of the maximum dry density. Based on our observations and discussion with Polygon, it is our opinion the lot subgrade, observed today as indicated on the attached site plan, is being prepared in general accordance with project needs provided contractor adheres to our geotechnical recommendations outlined above.
