PRIDE MONTHrn
. WHEREAS, June is celebrated as LGBTQ Pride Month nationwide to commemorate
the beginning of the Stonewall Riots in New York; and `'`a ' '
WHEREAS, Tigard is a community that includes and values its Lesbian, Gay,
Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ) residents; and
tl WHEREAS, Tigard's LGBTQ community is a diverse and essential part of our city P �
} who contribute to the widespread academic, economic, artistic and social spheres
within and around the Tigard community; and
WHEREAS, Pride Month in Tigard is meant to raise awareness of the prejudice and

discrimination still facing members of the LGBTQ community and honor their grace
x and perseverance in fighting discrimination in all its forms; and

WHEREAS, everyone is entitled to equal rights freely granted to all Americans

regardless of race, religion, gender identity or sexual orientation; and

WHEREAS, our city will stand up to hurtful speech and reinforce our efforts to attractgi
r .; a workforce that is representative of our community so that Tigard becomes a more wlrs;F�,
vibrant, diverse, and livable community; and

WHEREAS, the valuable contributions made by our brothers, sisters, mothers,
fathers, friends and neighbors who represent the diverse Tigard LGBTQ community
promotes innovation and positive change with lasting effects within our city. y
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, Jason B. Snider, Mayor of the City of
Tigard, Oregon, do hereby proclaim
