Establishment of Committee TIG.k D'S CIVIC CENTER DEVELOP NT COMMITTEE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE The Tigard City Council approved the establishment of the Civic Center Development Committee at their meeting of June 15, 1981 to serve until the Committee's goals are completed. The appointment of I47ayor Wilbur Bishop and former Mayors Elton Phillips, Dan Larsen, Floyd Bergmann and Alan Mickelson as Honorary Cao-chairmen along with Roger Zumwalt as chairman and Charles Samuels as vice-chairman were approved. The following Executive Committee members were also appointed and approved: Mary Ann McGinley Joan Barker Gerry Edwards Robert Gray Madalyn Utz Basil Dmytryshyn Betsy Chick Gary Leon Fox, Sr. Phil Hirl Howard Duffy Frank Tepedino Arvalene Love C . Vern Christensen David Hughes Carol Waaver Steve Slaybaugh Sharon Takahashi Tom Taylor Dr. Steve Alexander Cliff Speaker Allan Popp J. Allan Patterson The Tigard City Council has also designated the following goals and responsibilities for this Committee to undertake: 1 . To review and study the Fanno Creek Park Master Plan by ORB Organization that was approved by the Park Board and the City Council in the spring of 1980 as the future site for the Civic Center-Library complex. (To review this in light of today's needs and economic realities.) 2. To review and study the possibility of the Crow Engineering Building for a Civic Center-Library complex. (Work with City negotiaters on this) . 3. Compare this proposed site and building with others that might be available within the city. 4. To work with City Staff and each of the department heads to determine the space needs of the City during the next 5, 10, and 20 years. 5. To seek out professional help with the authorization of the City Council, to determine: aj space needs b) appraisal costs c) remodeling costs d)full costs of a Civic Center-Library complex by stages. 6. Review and give Council a composite cost of present city office costs. a) City Hall b) library c) police dept. d) Municipal Oourt e) other. 8. Develop and submit to the City Council a camaign strategey for voter approval of a new civic center: ay total amount needed b) expanded Citizens Committee of several hundred c) time schedule and d) date of proposed election These are to be the basic duties and goal. of the Civic Center Develop- ment Committee.
