Since this improvement is within a fully sprinklered building, plans must be submitted to and approved by this office indicating modifications in the sprinkler system before proceeding with any construction. 2. The rear exit must be openable without the use of a key, special knowliige or effort. The use of a key- operated deadbolt is acceptable provided it is of the indicating type and is readily distinguishable as locked. In conjunction with this type of locking device -nust be a readily visible, durable sign on or adjacent to the door stating "THIS DOOR TO REMAIN UNLOCKED DURING BUSINESS HOURS." The sign must be Iin letters not less than 1 inch h,gh on a contrasting background. 3. There must be e floor or landing on each side of all doors. The floor or landing trust be not more than 1/2-inch lower than the threshold of the doorway. When doors open over landings, the landing must have a length of nut less than 5 feet. 4. Firestopping consisting of 2-inch (nominal ) lumber or the equivalent must be installed i . all concealed spaces of stud walls and partitions, including furred spaces, at the ceiling and floor levels and at 10-foot STOP FIRES--- SAVES LIVES 1 Capitol Construction Company January 16, 1984 Page 2 intervals along the length of the wall . Firestopping must also be installed at all interconnections between concealed vertical and horizontal spaces such as occur at soffits, drop ceilings and cove ceilings. Openings around vents, pipes, ducts and similar utility runs which afford a passage for flame at ceiling and floor levels must be packed with noncombustible materials. 5. Two (2) sets of approved plans must be kept on the job site at all times for review by build;og and fire inspectors. ,lease call for inspections prior to the covering of any framing elements and upon completion of the project. 7.
