Such .'.s the case with Washington Square. Concerning the proposal to reduce the main mall from the current 3C-foot width to the minimum permitted, that is 30 feet, we strenuously object based upon our observation of the crowded conditions which occur during peak shopping periods. On the other hand, we cannot prohibit this move inasmuch as we cannot (nor should we be able to) require anyone to do more than the law prescribes. However, your client should be made aware that we are going to to considerably more restrictive due to this reduced exit width when it comes to the installation of displays, kiosks, seating and other obstructions to egress within the mall space.
