have coneuitsd bath the Mechanical and Building Codes end find that under
the circumstances of the installation under discussion, such en enclosure is
not required. Howe• r, we understand from discussing the matter with the
State Fire Marshals Office that firs insurenc.. underwriters generally require
such en enclosure prior to accepting the risk.
Accordingly, we recommend that you contact the fire insurance nsople who will
be underwriting this occupancy; also the building owners inasmuch el this in-
stallation could meterially effect their fire insurances coverage.

received in this office recently, hove been examined. W. find the hood in-
stsllations so *hewn on thw plans to be in general conformity with firs
soda requirements.
The plant' for the duct system installation, however, do not provi& us
with sufficient information to mate such a determination. aceordtn9ly,
we ern listing as follows r.ouirements for which we found no orovisiona
one which must ba observed in the installation of the duct system:
1, The ducts must be composed of 416 gauge galvanized shoot stool or
ropper ehsato weighing net lass than M sumo, pa: square feat.
2. All portions of the duct *yet= suet be accessible for inspection and
cleaning. Those portions of the duct aystem ,,blah are net accessible
by way of exhaust outlet or the throat of the hoods must be provided
with glom out openings. These openings generally should be located
at each change in direction of the duct and suet be ocuipged with tight
fitting doors constructed of the sem* metal cf which the duct is coir
nosed.
