Librarian attended meeting of the Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) Committee to Study Administration of Libraries. Points discussed included setting of minimum standards for all libraries in the county and whether or not receiving county funds should depend on meeting minimum standards. b. There was no Library Board meeting on August 8 because of lack of a quorum. c. The WCCLS Citizens Advisory Board met August 9. Of interest: It was decided that the Advisory Board would be incorporated rather than creating another committee to receive funds for capital improvements. d. Preparations continue for setting up the VISTA outreach program to low-income elderly. Debbie Smith's application has been approved and she will begin her service on September 18. Debbie is a recent graduate of Lewis and Clark College. e. Omitted from July report: During early morning of July 22, a rock was thrown through one of the large front windows of the Library. A person has been charged and is in custody awaiting trial. Estimate for re- pair is $376. A claim seeking restitution has been filed. 2. Personnel: a. Two new volunteers, Karen Ritenour and Christine Ray, have joined the Library. Marge Tominac, long-time volunteer, has "retired." This leaves the Library with a total of 13 active volunteers. b. Volunteer hours totaled 139.5, averaging 5. 16 per day. 3. Statistics: a. Circulation 7694 Adult 5064 Magazines 239 Juvenile 2121 Audio-Visual 177 Interlibrary Loan 83 Other 10 b. User cards issued 132 In-Town 67 Out -Town 65 c. Average attendance at programs: Story Hour 12. 1 8-12 year-olds-22.5 d. Money received: Fines 6.00 Donations 1.05 4. Programs: a. Children's programs - see attached schedule. b. For the Tigard Town and Country Days, the Library was represented Library Monthly Report, August 1978 - 2 by two groups of children, one of whom had decorated a float and the other had decorated their bikes.
