12/14/1976 - Minutes F„ LIBRARY BOARD MEETING DEC 14- 1:30 Those present were Jean Carlisle, Don Jacobs, Yvonne Burgess and Anne Hicks. The minutes were read and approved as read. UNDER OLD BUSINESS Cathy has been hired full time because the new law states that even part time personnel has to have full benefits. Our budget did not contain enough for 2 part-time people. r Pat will volunteer for a while. Cathy has good imagination for the job. The County has bought 5 16mil projectors- self wind- and we will have one to keep. They also bought 3 screens. State film library will be delayed due to change of time in presentation. The new city complex is still unknown. But county volunteers are working on new bookshelves. The IBM typewriter is giving a lot of trouble- strings attached to gift. UNDER NEW BUSINESS Meeting at Fowler Dec 20W for Board to input needs and programs for future. Mainly money for books. Should have a budget of $1 per person in city ( same for county people) Anne's report due Jan 7,1977. No adult classes in summer but programs for the older kids, Irene Ertell, library assistant to help Anne, was introduced. Good in cataloging and with volunteers. Anne ordered atlas stand, metal bookcases. The floor was repaired and a small heater has been ordered. page 2 Dec 14 meeting A motion made by Don Jacobs and seconded by Jean Carlisle to open the library an hour e4rlier at 10:00 AM starting Jan 3rd was passed. The State Aid to Libraries Bill was introduced to the Board with a request that the Board endorse the passage of this bill that would return to the cities and counties with library service a sum of .25/ per person to help with the expansion of library service and another portion that woould provide grants to establish library services to areas where there is none. A motion (Don Jabbs) was made, seconded by Jean Carlisle, and passed to approve the endorsement of this bill. The meeting was then adjourned.
