Vista Structural Engineering,LLC,was asked to comment on the geotechnical requirements specified in the general
notes for the above referenced project.
In the Geotechnical Information provided in the general notes on page SO,it states that'Earthwork and
foundations are to be consistent with the geotechnical a ineering recommendations. All foundations are to be on
competent native material or by other means as defined "a licensed geotechnical engineer.
The engineer of record's intent for this statement is to a:';nowledge'if there is a geotechnical report it defaults
over typical used values prescribed by the Oregon Struct4 al Specialty Code(OSSC). This statement does not imply
a geotechnical report is necessary unless required by th ,ounty/city jurisdiction. It is our recommendation that
the default soil values used for the scope of this project perfectly suitable.
