1.0 OVERVIEW
Carlson Geotechnical (CGT), a division of Carlson Testing(CTI), served as Geotechnical Engineer of Record
(EoR) during development of the Din Tai Fung restaurant at Washington Square Mall in Tigard, Oregon.
Prior to construction, we reviewed the geotechnical report for the site entitled "Geotechnical Consultation,"
dated August 10, 2018, prepared by GRI. We were in general agreement with the recommendations
contained within the referenced geotechnical report.
2.0 GEOTECHNICAL CONSTRUCTION OBSERVATION SERVICES
We performed geotechnical construction observation services on an on-call, part-time basis between August
24 and September 4, 2018. Our site visits were scheduled by Emerick Construction. Copies of our field
reports were forwarded as the work progressed and are available in our office for review. The following is a
summary of our observations:
• Subarade Soils: The floor slab and foundation subgrade soils we observed were prepared in general
accordance with our recommendations.
• Structural Fill Compaction: Based on visual observation of compaction, the structural fill placed beneath
the new floor slab areas was compacted in general accordance with our recommendations.
Based on our observations, as documented in our field reports, and to the best of our knowledge, within our
scope of work, the above geotechnical summaries accurately reflect our observations. Our services were
provided on an on-call, part-time basis, in which we relied on the contractor to contact our office for the
scheduling of our services. We cannot be held contractually responsible for those items, if any, that we did
not observe or test.
