WHEREAS, on September 17, 1787, the Constitution of the United States of
America was signed by 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention in
Philadelphia's Independence Hall; and
r 17 2018 marks the 231St anniversary of the drafting
WHEREAS, September Y
of the Constitution; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent
` document that provides Americans with the freedoms we have today; and ,

;hag , WHEREAS, on the anniversary of this important document, it is a great time to
learn more about the historical events which led to the framing of the Constitution

WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each
year by the President of the United State of America designating September
;A 17 through 23 as Constitution Week. '
"n NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, John L. Cook, Mayor of the City
' V of Tigard, Oregon, do hereby proclaim the week of September 17-23, 2018 as
CONSTITUTION WEEK
I � in Tigard, Oregon and encourage all citizens to reaffirm the ideals of the 5}
Constitution by protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through this
testament to American liberty.
