Upon arrival, I observed that earthwork crew had prepared subgrade for buildings A& B within areas noted on
attached site plan.At time of arrival, earthwork crew had placed approx. 4"of un-compacted crush rock on the
surface of the subgrade for building A. Using a Y2"diameter steel foundation rod I probed the buildings subgrade.
Probing indicated stiff subgrade.
I observed an area of building A subgrade, as noted on attached site plan,to be dense in roots.After conversations
with Shawn Dimke (GeoDesign Principle Engineer)we recommend, that if area of observed roots is to be underlaying
a footing,that dense root area be additional excavated until less dense (approx. 6" BGS).
I was informed by earthwork crew that building B was not yet fully excavated and the GeoDesign would be notified at
later date to evaluate areas not observed to day
Based on observations and probing, it is our opinion that buildings A& B subgrade observed today(contingent on
following with recommendation noted above), have been prepared in general accordance with our geotechnical
recommendations.
