The following letter is in response to the Failed 299 Final Inspection at the above
address.
1. The lateral bracing in the north east corner of the deck is complete. In lieu of the
first two bays of the center beam line, north end, having single X braces installed,
it is acceptable to have a double brace installed in these locations. The double
brace equates to the same strength as the two X braces.
2. The three hangers near the north end, center part of deck have been nailed.
3. The joist noted as being overspanned has a new 2x6 added to it. The existing 2x8
joist and the new 2x6 joist are adequate for the span. It is acceptable for the 2x6
to be fastened to the 2x8 only and additional hangers are not required.
4. The handrail has been installed.
5. A new 2x4 has been installed under the stair stringers for additional support.
6. The hangers shown on page 3 of the approved drawings may be omitted with
the installation of two sets of tension ties. Simpson DTT2z ties are all that are
required but larger size ties were installed which is acceptable. The first set of ties
is approximately 9 feet south of the north end and the second set of ties is about
19 feet south of the north end.
