Prepared By: Daniel Stai GDI ProPolygon-129-03 mm ° ° rr Project Name: River Terrace East Date: 1/23/18 Location: I SW Scholls Ferry&Roy Rogers, Bvrtn. Report#: 186 Revised Arrival: 1050 Departure: 1205 _.__. Weather: Rainy, 50's Permit#: TBD Site Visit Requested By: Ken w/Polygon .._. Met With (on site): Ken (via phone) Purpose: Observe Subgrade for Lots 72 and 73 Outstanding Issues: Proof roll road and curb base rock and repair as needed before paving FR-58 (12/06) Decommission temporary storm and sewer lines through Tract E FR-163 Deflection in roadway FR-177 soft fill from slope cut in lots 153, 154 and 155 Lots 72 and 73 Contractor had excavated lot 73 to grade and was in the process of excavating lot 72. Contractor had excavated the tiered footings next to the road on the north sides of each lot. Excavator said that they had excavated out 18 to 30 inches of soft soil on the northern most footing tier for each lot. They were using % inch minus crushed rock to backfill to finished grade and a jumping jack in small lifts for compaction. Crushed rock was generally dense when prodded with a/2 inch diameter steel "T" probe. I was able to penetrate up to 6 inches for part of the fill rock in lot 73 and I asked them to recompact this location. Contractor was covering newly cut subgrade with 1 to 2 inches of loose crushed rock. I recommended that this rock be keyed in using a plate compactor before it becomes saturated with rain. Subgrade soil generally appeared to consist of brown silt. There was some silty gravel fill located on the northeast corner of lot 73. Probing through the crushed rock, the subgrade was generally observed to be stiff to medium stiff with penetrations under full body weight between 4 and 18 inches. I observed organics and discolored soil in the subgrade of one of the tiers in lot 72. I asked contractor to pot hole down 6 inches. Discoloration ceased after 6 inches and was likely the old tilled zone. I did observe a few roots in the subgrade which were pulled out by the excavator. Excavator plans to place %4 inch minus crushed rock back to finished grade and compact via plate compactor. I was unable to observe the rest of lot 72 as the excavator was still cutting the southern half out. Based on our observations the subgrade for Lot 73 has been prepared in accordance with out geotechnical recommendations. We plan to return later to observe the remainder of the Lot 72 subgrade.
