Call to Order 7:15
Roll Call Walt Munhall, Susan Mueller, Dick Bendixsen, Madalyn Utz,
Jane Miller, Dorene Thomas, Irene Ertell (Librarian).
Excused: Peggy Ober.
Minutes Minutes from the September 6 special meeting were approved.
Monthly Report Members discussed the WCCLS budget levy issue. The Librarian
reported that the City Council had concurred in recommending
the $2.2 million budget to the County Commissioners for in-
clusion on the March 1984 ballot. The Commissioners will
consider the WCCLS request at their regular meeting on
October 11. The Librarian expressed optimism for approval
by the commissioners.
Friends of the The Friends of the Library have scheduled a Book and Bake Sale
Library on October 29, at the Oddfellows Hall on Pacific Highway. The
Friends are renting space to store books year round to alleviate
storage problems at the library and retain good sale materials.
The Friends will call and send post cards urging their acquain-
tances to vote YES at the November 8 bond election for library,
police and city office space in the Crow building.
City Facility Munhall led the discussion on promoting the November 8 bond
Ballot Measure election. He urged Board members to actively campaign in
their neighborhoods and to contact people who might be willing
to write letters to the Tigard Times.
Annual Library Report Librarian announced that the Annual Library Report would be
presented to City Council at their October 17 meeting. A
workshop session between Board members and Council members
will follow. Board members were urged to attend.
Selection Policy The Librarian distributed copies of the Library's Selection
Review Policy so that the Board can review it at the November meeting.
