Call to Order 7:00 PM
Roll Call Dick Bendixsen, Susan Carver, Jane Miller, Susan Mueller,
Walt Munhall, Peggy Ober, Dorene Thomas.
City Tax Base Bob Jean, City Administrator, reviewed the City's tax base
measure #51 to be voted on in the November election. He
talked about the cost for city services as presented in the
recent Portland State University's Urban Study of city services.
There was discussion regarding the possible effects of the 12%
tax limitation within the city and the county. Washington County
Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS) was discussed regarding the
present formula and how it could be impacted by the 12% limitation.

Monthly Report The Librarian gave an oral report for August. The written reports
will be mailed.
Friends of There was no meeting in September. Walt Munhall suggested that
the Library the Board brainstorm ideas for fund raising to present to the
Friends. Dick Bendixsen suggested that local corporations be
approached for grants or pledges. Susan Mueller was concerned
that more persons should be recruited for active participation
in the Friends of the Library.
Civic Center Susan Mueller reported on the Civic Center Advisory Committee's
Update progress, saying that they were still in the schematic design
phase and would be presenting it to City Council on September 17.
Board discussed the elevations, the possibility of excavating and
placing the library under city hall and other design features. It
was decided that these considerations would be presented at the
next Civic Center meeting.
