Roll Call: Jeri Cundiff, Yvonne Burgess, Marilyn Hartell, Carl Kostol, Kathy Davis Guest: Liz Newton Reports: Monthly Report was summarized by Library Director. Library is exploring ways to eliminate or reduce repetitive stress injuries. Inclement weather procedure has been implemented. Indoor Park has a new home at St. Anthony's Church. Volunteer hours strong even through the holidays. Friends of the Library: Burgess stated that the combined income from the Holiday Book Sale and Entertainment '93 books was $1 ,045. Cooperative Library Advisory Board: Meeting focused on informational materials for upcoming WCCLS levy. It was decided to update the existing fliers from the 1990 levy rather than develop new ones. CLAB was followed by People for Libraries meeting, a PAC organized to disseminate campaign literature. Young Adult Librarian: Re-opened recruitment will run from January 16, through February 1. Position is being offered at full-time in hopes of attracting a broader pool of applicants. WCCLS Lew: Options for raising money to pay for the printing and mailing of informational fliers in support of the WCCLS levy were discussed. Both the Board and representatives of FOL will give their support to the fund raising efforts. The Board preferred to maintain the libraries high profile in the community by continuing to keep service items in the media and making general visits to community groups rather than "campaigning" for the levy specifically via door-to-door visits, a speakers bureau, etc. Levy will be on the March mail-in ballot. Planning Committee: Hartell reported that the planning committee has met four times around the issue of 'Determining the Library needs of the Community.' The group has addressed the issues of: What do we need to know? What questions should be asked to get useful answers? Who can we talk to? How can we talk to them? At the next meeting, the group will assign responsibility for collecting this information and examine some selected demographic data. Davis gave an over-view of the seven step planning process that the committee hopes to work through during the next year. Open House: The Open House for Seniors will be held at the library on January 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Library staff will be available to give tours and computer demonstrations as well as issue library cards. The library is closed to the public at this time. A shuttle bus has been arranged to provide ongoing pick up and delivery of Summerfield and King City libraries. Information about the open house will appear in the Tigard Times, Oregonian, and the Regal Courier. Adjournment: 8:25 p.m. Respectfully Submitted, Kathy L. Davis Library Director IEELBMIN word\
