This Memo is to inform you of our recommendations for the installation of the framing
at the garage floor. We understand the garage floor and slab are supported on three
sides by stud pony walls stepping with the grade. The exterior and rear walls have
plywood sheathing to help support the lateral load. The wall between the side of the
garage and the stairway does not have any sheathing. We recommend adding a
minimum length of 8'-0"of full height sheathing to this wall to provide lateral resistance
of the garage floor slab. Provide 8d edge nailing at 6" centers and intermediate nailing
at 12"centers.
