SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY
Whereas, Tigard celebrates its local small businesses and the contributions they
make to our local economy and community; and
Whereas, the Small Business Administration notes that small businesses are
responsible for 63 percent of net new jobs created over the past 20 years; andit�y
Whereas, small businesses contribute positively to the local community by supplying '>
jobs and generating tax revenue; and
Whereas, small businesses are critical to the overall economic health of the city; and
Whereas, small businesses rely on local residents and visitors to support the services = 4
and goods that small business owners provide to the community; and
- Whereas, the city supports local businesses that create jobs, boost the local -�
economy and preserve neighborhood character and livability; and
w Whereas, advocacy groups as well as public and private organizations across the
country endorse the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Small Business Saturday.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that 1, John L. Cook, Mayor of the City of
