I setup a business with Oregon when I was in-between jobs as an opportunity for independent systems analysis consulting contracts. It ended up I used a consulting firm instead for my work, but I have been told by my peers to rejoice I didn't have to pay the additional taxes! That said—I am single in a 3 bedroom house and it seemed a huge misuse of resources during times when folks really just need a break. It is in my heart to offer a secure and warm place to young adults who just need a 'home to come home to' while they are trying to get things going for themselves. Living near Meridian Hospital and having developed a relationship with my contracting firm, I intend to gain contracts with people who need a place for 3—12 months. I have also created some contacts with the beauty school, I think they have a 10 month term. I am in conversation now with a traveling health care provider who has a 13-week contract that goes between Sherwood and Hillsboro medical facilities, and this is perfect for her(and me!). I talked with my USAA home insurance, this is within their guidelines of my coverage— my liability is currently at $500,000. My CPA mentioned I didn't need to put room sharing on a business, that I could just do it as a 'person' that my taxes were treated the same—however I wanted to setup a different bank account and just keep everything neat and separate from my personal life—so I submitted my paperwork under the LLC. If that causes a problem, I am happy to resubmit my paper work just in my own name. Oh, I guess the last thing I will use that LLC for is when I publish my first book towards the end of the year. I will be self- publishing likely, but my friend-author coached me to keep all that under a business name. Is that enough information for you? Please feel free to contact me at anytime. I want to set this up right and within everyone's guidelines—I am in this with a long-term vision. I have been living in Tigard for over 6 years now and I love my neighborhood and intend to continue contributing to the community. Can you provide a detailed description of your business? It says you'll be renting out a room in your house —what is the proposed length of tenancy for future tenants? What makes this situation different from having a regular housemate/roommate?
