This memo is intended to address the framing clarification for the proposed deck
framing to be made during construction
1. Due to grade and existing conditions, is it acceptable to bear the sunken
portion of the deck framing on top of the beams in lieu of using face mount
hangers?
ANSWER: YES> It is acceptable to bear on the sunken area joists on top
of the beam. A continuous rim or solid blocking shall be provided between
the joists. The rim or blocking shall be attached to the beam with A35 clips
at 2'-0" o.c. and 10d toe nails at 8" o.c. See attached revised plan.
