RE: Response to Plan Review- Madrona Recovery Center Remodel

The following is in response to your Plan Review comments dated April 24, 2016 for the Madrona
Recovery Center. The facility is located at 6996-7000 SW Varns Street in Tigard, Oregon.
For ease of reference, all original comments have been provided; responses are typed in blue and are
included below each specific item. Revisions to the drawings have been clouded and are denoted by
a delta 1.
COMMENTS:
PLANNING (Review completed by:Dan Nelson,Senior Plans Examiner)
1) Review door schedule and revise fire ratings.
• Door schedule reviewed. Per comments 3 and 6, exit stair doors and doors to
exit passageways required to be 1-hour fire rated, and the door to storage
beneath stairwell, have been revised to 60-minute doors. See revised door
schedule sheet A4.00.
2) Please show one hour construction for storage under stairs.
• Code P/an, Floor Plan, and Reflected Ceiling Plan revised. See revised sheets
A0. 11, A2.011 and A6.01
3) Show one hour rating for stairway doors.
• See response to comment#1, and revised door schedule sheetA4.00.
4) Please show exit passageway from exit stairways.

• Tongue and groove ceiling is a part of the existing roof assembly, and is not
rated.

• One hour construction is provided for exit stairs between the basement and
first floor. Door schedule is updated to show 60-minute doors. See revised
door schedule sheet A4.00.
7) Provide occupant loads for building.
• Occupant loads added to Code P/an, with additional commentary added to
first floor to depict converging loads from the basement and second floors.
See revised code sheet A0. 11.
8) Show wall rating for open to below areas.
• Wall rating added See revised code sheet A0, 11
9) Illustrate construction of corridor.
• Corridor wall construction is provided on detail C/A2.00. Corridor wall
continuity is illustrated by building section G/A5.00.

• Summary of fire resistive standards is provided by a chart- on sheet A0.00.
