PF-11.16 MALLEABLE IRON & CAST IRON FITTINGSnw! General Assembly of Threaded Fittings 1) Inspect both male and female components prior to assembly. • Threads should be free from mechanical damage,dirt,chips and excess cutting oil. • Clean or replace components as necessary. 2) Application of thread sealant • Use a thread sealant that is fast drying,sets-up to a semi hard condition and is vibration resistant.Alternately,an anaerobic sealant may be utilized. • Thoroughly mix the thread sealant prior to application. • Apply a thick even coat to the male threads only.Best application is achieved with a brush stiff enough to force sealant down to the root of the threads. 3) Joint Makeup • For sizes up to and including 2"pipe,wrench tight makeup is considered three full turns past handtight.Handtight engagement for 1/2"through 2"thread varies from 41/2 turns to 5 turns. • For 21/2"through 4"sizes,wrench tight makeup is considered two full turns past handtight. Handtight engagement for 21/2" through 4"thread varies from 51/2 turns to 63/4turns. ARGCO.com ARGCO Updated 5/10/2017 ©ARGCO • , moi, FM Approvals' Pipe Fittings These fittings are suitable for interconnecting piping,valves and other components in both wet and dry automatic sprinkler systems. Installation should be according to applicable sprinkler system fabrication rules.These rules limit the minimum size of sprinkler piping to 1 in., nominal. FM Approved pipe fittings of smaller sizes are intended for use as valve trim,gauge connections,and for other peripheral service.The water flow path of the sprinkler system cannot be designed using smaller sizes than 1 in.,nominal. Unless otherwise noted in the listing,these fittings have 175 psi(1205 kPa)rated working pressure. Threaded connections on fittings can be made to FM Approved threadable thinwall pipe or to Schedule 40 pipe. Refer to the"Steel Pipe"listings for a summary of the various types of FM Approved steel pipe suitable for threading or grooving." The fittings manufacturer's installation instructions must be observed in all cases.When connections are made to FM Approved pipe, the pipe manufacturer's installation instructions must also be followed. Unless otherwise stated below,the maximum ambient temperature to which these fittings should be subjected is 225°F(107°C). Fittings, Side Outlet, Rigid These fittings allow installation of a perpendicular branch line of reduced size,while joining inline pipes of equal diameters.These fittings bolt over a hole in the run pipe,and allow installation of a perpendicular branch line of reduced size. The maximum branch line size is one pipe size reduced from the run pipe size. 402, 403, 501, 503 Product Fitting Nominal Pipe Size, Max Working Pressure, Remarks Designation Description mm psi(kPa) 12x1-1/4 1 1/2 2-1/2x1-1/4, 1-1/2 I 76 mm x 1-1/4, 1-1/2 o 3x1-1/4, 1-1/2,2 l£ r 4 x 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2,2-1/2,76 mm 300 a,b,c,d 5 x 1-1/2,2,2-1/2 (2070) Mechanical Tee 165 mm x 2,76 mm i 402 Grooved Outlet 6 x 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2,2-1/2,76 mm I 18x2,2-1/2, 76mm,3 00 139.7 mm x 1-1/2,2 2-1l2 3 0) w G a,d 4 x 3,., 232 a,b,c,d /111-' , 16x3 4 (1600) o. 2 x 1/2,3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1 1/2 1 1 2-1/2 x 1/2,3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2 76 mm x 1/2,3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2 3 x 1/2,3/4, 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,21 / g 108mmx1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2 403 Mechanical Tee 4 x 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2,2-1/2 300 0) •a,b,c,d ,Threaded Outlet 5 x 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2,2-1/2 • 41 •133mmx1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2 o 140 mm x 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2 • 6 x 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2,2-1/2 165 mm x 1, 1-1/4, 1-1/2,2,2-1/2 3 8 x 1 1-1/4, 1-1/2 2 2-1/2,3 l r,u>... umoawn ii,d.,,,. .x iiiiv..n F...::.. „_ :av:: nro.._ „4„:„.„.____,iiiioiiiiiig 3 3 11-- ra- g i Mechanical Tee U Bolt :21;i:11xl.C/1421/12x;1,111-13://224-11:,31744: 300;501a,b,c,d $ 1 Threaded Outlet s 2-1/2 x 1/2,3/4, 1 ,(2070) 1$76 mm x 1/2,3/4, 1 r 3x1 31-1/4 x 1/2,3/4, 1 1 1-1/2 x 1/2,3/4, 1 Mechanical Tee 300 1502 Threaded Outlet 12 x 1/2,3/4, 1 0(2070) 1a, b,c,d 0 o .2-1/2 x 1/2,3/4, 1 y 176 1mm x 1/2 3/4 1 o ©2007-2017 FM Approvals.All rights reserved. 1 of 2 1 Remarks: a.For use with Schedule 10 and heavier pipe. b.For use with Chinese Standard GB/T 3091 pipe. c.
