This letter is in regards to the residential addition listed above. The existing exterior side
wall of the garage was originally constructed using full height studs at 36" to 48" o/c
with horizontal blocking between studs. New full height vertical 2x blocking at 16" o/c
was added for the new second story addition for support of any additional vertical
loading and construction of a new shear wall along this side. Out of plane loading on
this existing wall has not changed due to the new addition and the vertical blocking is
structurally acceptable for the new gravity and in plane lateral loading.
