WHEREAS, on September 17, 1787, the Constitution of the United States of y
America was� signed b 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention in; g Y 9
Philadelphia's Independence Hall; and
WHEREAS, September 17, 2017, marks the 230th anniversary of the draftingR
r of the Constitution; and s
j _ WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to a historic � n
document that formed the basis of the America we know today; and

WHEREAS, on the anniversary of this important document, it is a great time to
> learn more about the historical events which led to the framing of the Constitution .,
in September 1787; and
A WHEREAS, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each
year by the President of the United State of America designating September
17 through 23 as Constitution Week.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, John L. Cook, Mayor of the City ,
of Tigard, Oregon, do hereby proclaim the week of September 17-23, 2017 as

h in Tigard, Oregon and encourage all citizens to learn more about the -�•
