01/17/1979 - Minutes t • Minutes of NPO #7 Meeting Tigard City Hall January 17, 1979 Members present : Bonnie Owens, Phil Mullard, Jim Penick, Joann Grund, Joe Meets, Belmont Williams, Alan Paterson and Yvonne Larson Ken Selby - City Planner Others present : Lee Cunningham, Tom Gessford, Steve Hankins, Dave Harper, Alfred Meets Al Roberts, Mrs . Al Roberts, Skip Roggenbihl, and Pam Bartley The meeting was opened by Ken Selby who discussed briefly the problem of strip zoning next to the shopping center along Scholls Ferry Road and the zoning possibilities to make the area blend with the Mercury Development and to offset peak traffic hours from the neighboring Commercial-Residential areas . Tom Gessford the Landscape Architect with the Meets property made a brief presentation to change his previous zone request of Residential-commercial to Commercial-Professional explaining the change was merely in name only; as .-the NPO was previously given an incorrect definition of these zones. Skip Roggenbihl gave a presentation regarding a proposed athletic club along Scholls Ferry Road. Doctor Al Roberts, a veterinarian gave a presentation promoting a veterinary clinic on the Cunningham property to be incorporated into a professional center at said property. Alan Paterson moved to change the zone for the area west of the shopping center to Commercial-Professional; the area to be included as follows Tax Lot 600 . the Cunningham tract, Tax Lot 500 the Olsen tract and Tax Lot 400 North of Springwood, the Meets tract . Phil M ullard seconded the motion. Discussion followed. the motion passed unanimously. Discussion followed regarding the proposed Athletic Club . Since the tract involved is presently in the County, it was decided to leave the zone as it now stands . Discussion followed regarding changing policy 18 of our plan. Jim Penick moved that Policy 18 be changed to read. "It is the intent that Commercial-Professional uses not be extended any further to the West than the Westerly boundary of the Cunningham-Olsen property along Scholls Ferry Road so that there will not be any future strip development .
