NOTES FROM THE SER USER'S MEEZr1NG
AUGUST 1, 1990
o Function of Computer Users Group
Staff is seeing a need to have the group take a more active roll in
coordinating computer issues. Following are the areas suggested for the
group to participate in:
brainstorming solutions to deparbTental policies;
information sharing - what is happening & what is new;
software - what is available, who can access;
serve as an "advisory committee" - as a link between Bruce and
users for common questions/needs/things; and
negotiating computer request priorities.
o Committee Discussion of CD Problems with Tidemark.
The Committee has offered to help educate users on the system. Other
problems mentioned, mainly use of the system, the Committee thought
would be more appropriate for Department Heads to discuss.
o Areas of Focus in Future
Training. What needs to be offered? Check with your co-workers. Other
related issues are: how will training be accomplished and where will it
be held.
Notification of software. What is on-site and what is available on the
market. The City has the following packages available:
Project Manager; Lotus 1,2,3;
Quatro Pro - spread sheet; WordPerfect;
RightWriter - grammar check; Grammatic 4 - grammer check;
GraphWriter; R & R ReportWriter;
E-Mail; and a calendaring progam.

Updates on Computer Manager's current request priorities
The cxmmnittee talked about getting updates from the C.M. on his work
priorities and having the opportunity to negotiate with different
departments on changing priorities.

Developing y per per'
The Committee has requested that Bruce and Wayne develop a plan, for the
September meeting, regarding possible responsibilities of the "key
personnel" and also a recorYmnendation on who the key person might be for
each department. It was also suggested that these people may bei the
CU group with periodic open meetings for all users. We will talk more
about membership at the next meeting.
Our next meeting is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. , September 12, 1990.
