Subject: Drain pipe underneath proposed concrete pier
We were informed by the contractor that when they dug the hole for the formwork for
the footing under beam B7 in the northwest corner of the foundation, they
encountered a drain pipe. The contractor replaced that section of the drain pipe with
ABS. They sent us a photo of the condition. We feel that the ABS pipe will be strong
enough to not break during the installation of the concrete or due to the designed
loads. The presence of the pipe should not affect the ability of the footing to support
the designed loads.
