FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING AND STATE REVENUE SHARING PROPOSED USE HEARING
BY THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR
4:00 P.M. - MARCH 5, 1982 - TIGARD CITY HALL
The hearing was opened at 4:00 p.m. by City Administrator Bob Jean. No members
of the general public were present. The hearing was recessed and continued at
that time.
At 4:15 p.m. , the hearing reopened, when Ms. Jacqueline Hanes of the Washington
County Community Action Emergency Services and Shelter House Program arrived to
discuss her proposal. Ms. Hanes suggested that the City of Tigard should be a
participant in the program to the extent of $1,479 as a City share for fiscal
year 1982-83. Ms. Hanes noted that the program receives many referrals from the
Tigard Police Department and from area churches regarding temporary shelter and
short-term financial assistance in emergencies. In the last year, there have
been 96 requests honored from Tigard residents for the agency's family assistance
program. There have been 13 requests honored from the Tigard area for the emer-
gency services program.
The City Administrator explained the uncertainty of funding in the Federal Revenue
Sharing and assured Ms. Hanes that he would forward the request, without an affir-
mative or negative recommendation, to the Budget Committee for their consideration.
It was further discussed that the $1,479 request was really not so much a matter
of absolute financial concern, but rather more of a broad Council policy concern.
The hearing was closed at 4:30 p.m. No other citizens has asked to be heard nor
appeared.
