SUBJECT: June meeting
1. The regular June meeting is canceled due to lack of business to
come before the Committee this month.
2 . NPO #6 is proposing revisions to the Comprehensive Plan
Transportation Map in the vicinity of 109th and Naeve Street. It
is the proposal which the Transportation Committee saw at the March
meeting. The NPO's proposal is currently being prepared in formal
application form and will likely be submitted as a formal
application next week. When the formal application is submitted,
we will send copies to Committee members .
This proposed map amendment will probably be scheduled for hearing
before the Planning Commission in July. When you receive a copy of
the application, please look it over and decide if additional
review is needed by the Transportation Committee. If so, a special
Committee meeting could be called in late June to provide Committee
comments before the Planning Commission hearing. If a special
meeting is desired, please contact either Joe Schweitz or me.
3. The Committee had previously raised concerns about the Durham
Road school crossing at Durham Elementary School. On May 15th, I
spoke with Mr. Scott Baker, the principal at the school. He told
me that the school had received good cooperation from the State
Highway Division in recent weeks . The school and the State are
considering installation of advance warning lights to flash during
the times that students are crossing -- similar to the flashing
lights that the City installed on Walnut Street near C. F. Tigard
School.
Mr. Baker indicated that the State is now adequately addressing the
school's concerns and that additional City involvement is not
needed at this time. I assured him of our willingness to assist in
the future if needed.
