09/01/1989 - Cancellation Notice MEMORANDUM TO: Transportation Advisory Committee DATE: September 1, 1989 FROM: City Engineer /176 Meeting Cancellation The September meeting has been cancelled because there was no business to come before the Committee. Greenburg/Cascade Project On August 28th, the City Council accepted the Committee's recommendation that the Greenburg/Cascade traffic signal project be included in the 1989-90 CIP budget. We have already tentatively selected a design consultant and expect design to begin very soon. After reviewing the project with the consultant, it appears unlikely that construction could begin before early 1990. The project requires coordination with the State Highway Division. The project also requires some minor acquisition of right-of-way and easements in order to provide a location for the signal pole bases and to provide for some minor curb changes that are appropriate with this project. Interim Traffic Marking Revisions on Greenburq Road The Committee had asked that we prepare some sketches of potential interim traffic markings that might facilitate safe traffic access from Cascade Blvd. onto Greenburg Road. At this time we are still trying to determine for sure what revisions the State is planning on Greenburg Road north of Cascade Blvd. and when the State revisions may be implemented. Once we obtain this information, we can quickly sketch up some ideas for potential revisions to the striping at Cascade Blvd. to match into whatever the State is doing. I expect that this can be accomplished during September. If so, we may want to call a special meeting of Transportation Advisory Committee in early October to review these concepts. This should still allow time to implement any appropriate revisions prior to winter. Durham Road During September you may see some construction work along Durham Road, between 108th Avenue and 113th Avenue. This work is being done by a private developer who needs to regrade the existing dips in order to provide adequate sight distance at his proposed new driveway onto Durham Road. This work is privately funded and will use none of our bond money. However, it will provide some of the roadway fill which our bond project requires, thereby providing some cost savings for the bond project. dj/M-TAC.RW
