To whom this may concern:
Please be advised that solid shim is not required when connecting the end jacks to hip trusses,
provided the live load (Roof Snow) is less than or equal to 40 psf. Since the reactions are
relatively small the connection can be made with a combination of direct bearing and 2-16d
toenails.
