Tuesday, June 19, 1990
MEMBERS PRESENT: John Savory, Brian Moore, Amo DeBernardis,
Tony Orlandini
OTHERS PRESENT: Iry Larson, Liz Newton, John Acker
The meeting started at 7:30 a.m. and the minutes of the May meeting were
approved as written.
John gave the committee a review of events surrounding President's Parkway
urban renewal proposal and the issue remaining to be decided. The committee was
asked for input whether the City should now maintain the comprehensive plan
change that designated the area commercial-professional or reverse that
decision and go back to the prior designations which was primarily single
family residential. After discussion, the committee declined to make a
recommendation until staff could provide them with an estimate of what it would
cost to do the master planning if the commercial designation were retained and
when that planning would be necessary.
There are still two vacancies on the committee that need to be filled. Iry
Larson expressed interest in becoming a member. Staff will send an
application to Mr. Larson.
Committee members discussed committee structure in terms of the scope of
tasks. There was agreement that the committee needs to define its own scope
rather than wait for others to provide direction. Attending members also
agreed that the committee needs to be more active and to act as advocates for
the business community.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50.
