ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Tuesday, September 18, 1990
MEMBERS PRESENT: Amo DeBernardis, Tony Orlandini, John Savory
Brian Moore, Jim Corliss, Ron Pulliam
OTHERS PRESENT: Liz Newton, John Acker
The meeting started at 7:40 a.m. and the minutes of the July meeting were
approved as written.
Tony discovered that Power Rents is moving to the Georgia Pacific building - we
can assume that Tony's initiative to contact Irwin Schimmel of Power Rents a
few months ago played some part in keeping this business in Tigard. Other
activities were discussed.
The comprehensive plan has been amended back to the way it was in the "diamond"
area prior to Presidents Parkway, thus officially ending the urban renewal
effort for that area.
The committee discussed upcoming activities that have some affect on the
downtown area: Main Street Bridge, Transportation comprehensive plan
amendments, Fanno Creek Park improvements, possible business/property owners
meeting.
The time line for the Tigard Triangle master plan was discussed. The RFP was
mailed to interested parties Monday and an advertisement will appear in the
Daily Journal of Commerce on Wednesday.
Some committee members expressed concern about the way phone calls are handled
at City Hall. Overall access seems adequate but it is thought to be difficult
to reach certain individuals.
John will arrange for Wayne Lowery, Finance Director to attend the next meeting
to discuss a proposed tax base for Tigard that will on the November ballot.
