Adjourn low /br101 �� MINUTES TIGARD ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE Meeting of July 15, 1086 Members Present: Amo DuBernardix, Kathy Budny, Susan Clark, David Clement, Jim Corliss, Dick Cochran, John Savory, and Todd Mains Others Present: Geraldine Ball, Jeanne Caswell, Bill Monahan The Committee was given an update on the I-5 Corridor Association Symposium, It will be held in October- 8, 1986 with the City being one of nix cities participating. John presented the work program developed for the Committee. It was prepared by Bob Jean, Valerie Johnson, John Savory, Bill Monahan, and Brian Hartung. John stressed the need for concrete accomplishments in the coming year. He asked each ara representative to give some thought to what (-.he area property owners and businesses would like to see donu. Committee members can bounce ideas off resource leads identified for the areas . He asked that members give some thought to needs for reports at the August meeting. Jeanne questioned whether it was realistic to input a needs list in one month. The Committee decided to extend the timeline by a month. The downtown area was discussed. John reported that don Hanson is resigning an head of the Downtown Council . He suggested that local business people dropped the ball on the formation of the Council . He rioted that a lank of energy existed, not a lack of interest. Follow—up was poor, an was support of the major businesses. John and Dick will attempt to put together a visual plan of the downtown with priorities , The Committee discussed whether the City wants to push downtown. Clarification will be sought from the City Council at the August workshop. Susan noted that the downtown image in crucial to what the City is all about. She suggested that the image desired he identified. John will writu to the City Council asking that the Workshop be held on Wednesday, August 20, 1986 from 6-0 PM. The Committee will meet in a special meeting on August 12 and reschedule the regular August 1.9 meeting to August 26, 1986. (Note: The Council considered the request for an August 20 meeting and compromised by setting an August 18 meeting from 0-8 PM. ) Bill gave an update on the Council decision to interpret that Magnu—Humphries could use the Prairie Market building for its distribution center. The Girn6 site, Tri—Met facility, and Tigard East were dixcuoned. The meeting concluded at 9:00 AM. The City Council has agreed to a 6 - 8 PM session on the 18th. Our regular August meeting has been set for the 26th.
