Youth Advisory Council - Minutes
MEETING DATE/TIME: February 22 at 4:00 p.m.

1. CALL TO ORDER-4:04 PM
2. ROLL CALL
In attendance:Adam LaFountain, Caleigh Smith,Zahra Hashmat,Marquesa Calderon,Landon Carlson,
Gabe Taylor, Councilor Goodhouse,Emily Webster
Excused: Barbara Ann Schlabach, Sarah Oh, Skyler Gambill, Kent Wyatt
Unexcused:Juliette Tisseur,Hannah Alzgal,Danny Shimanovsky

Guest Speaker: Marland Henderson
3. NEW BUSINESS
• Councilor Goodhouse suggests that we go to junior highs to recruit and talk about TYAC in Tigard
High announcements.
• Named Youth Spotlight Award winner for January-Jacob Beck-won his weight class in wrestling at
districts
• Will talk to Bed,Bath and Beyond and similar stores to ask for pillow, sheets and bedding donations
along with the chamber of commerce to see where they have resource connections
• We have a goal for each member to recruit another person by next meeting.Whoever brings the most
people to the next meeting will get a$20 gift card.
4. OLD BUSINESS
• Approved minutes from January 31,2017 meeting
• The Free Little Library will be painted and Main Street Cleanup will be on March 11 and will begin at
11:00 a.m.
• Zahra donated the three blankets we made to the severe weather shelter at St.Anthony's.
• State of the City was very heavy about volunteer involvement,and we will try to encourage that too.
• We will plan our CPR class for April 20th and advertise it through websites and bulletin boards.
