There is a public sewer in SW Mcdonald St. , in front of the property, however, at this time it is not available for. connection (the sewer line is only a partial segment, the remainder will be constructed in the future) . The permit fees for connecting the existing residence to the sewer are as follows: If the home was constructed prior to July 1, 1970, and has not had an available public sewer located within 300 feet of the property for more than three years, there is a "Grandfather" permit fee of $33 .00. If the home was constructed after July 1, 1970, or has had an available public sewer located within 300 feet of the property for more than three years, the permit fee is $2135.00 (subject to annual increases) . It is my understanding that the existing residence was constructed in 1961. There currently is no public sewer available within 300 feet of the property. If the existing residence is connected to the public sewer within three years of the date that connections are allowed, the permit fee would be $335.00. One side note, rumors n indicate that this "Grandfather" fee may be repealed. You may wish to contact the Unified Sewerage Agency (684-4643) for any proposed 0) changes to the regulations. In addition to the permit fees, the property is subject to an assessment for the construction costs of the SW McDonald St. sewer. LU The amount of the assessment is $38.0024 per lineal foot of property frontage, plus a 7% annual interest. accrual. This assessment can be paid at any time prior to connecting to the sewer. Typically the city has not required a property that has access to a public sewer to connect as long as the private system continues to function, however, if a private system fails, and there is a public sewer available, the property must connect at that time.
