Dear. Sir .
On January 9, 1.981, Fire Marshal Rein Tobias and I inspected
the installation of a wood-burning stove at your residence.
We found the stove vented into a metal ' heatilator' fireplace,
which is not allow6d under. the 1979 Oregon Mechanical Specialty
and Fire Life Safety CocJe. The reason for this is the metal
' heatilator ' has a U.L.. listing, approved for a specific type
U3e. Any charge in its designed use vaids the listing, (in
this case the venting of another heating appliance through it)
an•i can be hazardous.
It is possible to bore a hole into the chimney through the
face-brick above the heat?.lator, as long as the vent connector
has proper clearance to combustibles.
Finally , you should know that a permit is required prior to
any installation.
