Change the two ceiling fixtures under the Attic floor (shown on Sheet 4 of drawings) to Lightolier "Lytecaster" series - 200 watt, prewired 1601 frame and 1610 trim. Provide one 100 watt porcelain receptac,ie with pull chain at top of fold- ing stairs. Alternate 2 Construct footings and roof beam to support existing structure, if necessary. Defective materials contrary to this contract may be rejected during any stage of the construction - by the Architect . MANUFACTURER'S DIRECTIONS, where applicable, shall be followed unless otherwise ]fjecified. MEASUREMENTS. Before ordering any materials or doing any work, each contractor shall verify all mea.si-rerr,ents at the building and shall be responsible for the correctness of same. No extra charge will be allowed on account of different measurements of actual and that indicated on drawings . Any differ- ence which may be found shall be submitted to the Architect for consideration before proceeding with the work. GUARANTEE for a period of one year from completion of the work, that all moving or adjustable work shall remain in perfect order, including hardware, doors, electrical equipment and other work that becomes defective during that period. This does not apply to work neglected or abused by the Owner. Before final payment, the General Contractor shall deliver to the Architect all guarantees as hereafter requested and same are to be signed by the proper subcontractors. t EXTRAS above the stipulated cost of the building will not be authorizes nr paid by thr- Owner, ur,les:� signed by the Owner.and Contractor. GENERAL CONDI'T'IONS. The A. I.A. standard form "The General Conditions of the Contract for the Construction of Building form A-201 , latest edition, is a Dart of this Contract and will be bound with the Contract. CONTRACT FORM. The A.I.A. standard form, "Standard Form of Agreement Between Contractor and Owner for Construction of Buildings" , A-101 , latest edition, will be part of the Contract Documents. Set preliminary stakes showing locations of the work . Secure approval from Architect before proceeding with work. PROTECT against damage during construction, existing items which are to remain. Where damage might occur, restore to acceptable condition. STRIP top soil from all area:. to be covered by building, slabs or paving. Stockpile topsoil removed from graded areas for redistribution by this contract- or during finish grading . Remove all materials not suitable for finish grading purposes, EXIS'T'ING SHRUBBERY in way of new construction to be removed by Owner. EXCAVATE all footings to firm bottom. Fill any excess cut under footings with concrete without cost to Owner. Variations to excavation quantities die to bearing soil conditions will be adjusted in an extra. Notify Architect for approval of bottom soil before pouring concrete. Side wall forms will be required on footings and walls to be double formed. GRAVEL BASE COURSE . Place 1 1/2" minus gravel or unwashed pea gravel ove► compacted edrth bottom . BACKFILLING against concrete only after approval by Architect. Organic matter in fill or backfill material will not be permitted. CONCRETE MATERIALS Concrete: Transit mixed with minimum 2500# per square inch at 28 days. Minimum cement content - 5 sacks per yard. Maximum slump - 5 inches. Strength shall be indicated on trip tickets and held for record . Measurement of mat- erials for ready mixes shall conform to Standard Specific- ations of ASTM C 94, latest edition. Reinforcing: All reinforcing bars deformed steel per specification for billet steel ASTM A-15-SOT and conforming to ASTM A-305 for deformation requirements. Mesh per Stand- ard Specifications for Welded Steel Fabric (ASTM A-185) . Reinforcing bars shall be free of mud and heavy rust or other coatings that will destroy borid. Wall reinforcing / shall have not less than 3" of concrete between it and ground contact surface, unless otherwise shown. Place bx6 No. 10 mesh in all slabs. Lap mesh 6" and wire securely arid lift during pouring to 1" from bottom of slab. PLACING CONCRETE. If weather is below 45 degrees F. do not pour without approval from Architect. Place in farms within 45 minutes'after mixing . Spade or vibrate thoroughly to avoid rock pockets and assure density. Twenty four hours after placing concrete, cut or loosen from ties. Wall forme may be removed in two days. Protect fresh concrete from hot sun for seven days. VAPOR BARRIER. Under all interior floor slabs on grade, place 4 mil polyethyl- ene sheating, lapping joints 4 inches. Fit carefully around electrical conduit acid plumbing. If any large breaks occur, cover hole with another thickness of polyethylene . FINISHING SLABS I . Interior - steel trowel. Apply two coats of A.C.
